ORDER OF WORSHIP | 29 MARCH

Going with God’s Commission and Blessing

Sending Song

Be Still, My Soul

(Musical Notation here [PDF])

1. Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

2. Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future, as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.

3. Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord.
When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past,
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Commissioning and Benediction

Dear friends in Christ, every one of our sorrows will one day turn to joy. Every one of our small joys will be made complete. Every one of your troubles will be calmed by the peace of Christ. We have the beginnings of this joy and peace now, and the fullness of what Jesus has won for us is absolutely guaranteed to us, and is coming to us soon. Take heart! And–even while you are, for the time being, scattered–know that you are scattered for a purpose, just as you will be gathered for a purpose. Whether you are scattered or gathered, believe in Jesus, and be his witnesses.

As you follow Jesus this week, go with his blessing upon you:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. And may the blessing of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit rest upon you and abide with you, both now and forever. Amen!
